Michael has lived in the DC area for nearly twenty years. He has worked at local DC institutions for most of his career, including the Washington Humane Society and, currently, at Politics and Prose Bookstore. Michael's past volunteer experience includes working on the RAINN sexual assault online hotline, working with local organizations such as Rhode Island Avenue Main Street, and assisting visitors at the National Zoo.

Michael is a Venezuelan American and spent his childhood abroad. His mother is Venezuelan and his father was in the oil business, so they moved around a lot. The Woodridge neighborhood has become a home for Michael, and he wants it to be a home for his neighbors, too. He believes in the power of diverse communities and community-oriented problem-solving.
